Staying Safe Online: Short Online Course
Staying Safe Online is a short E-Learning course I built for my employer a couple of years ago, but permission has been granted to host it on my portfolio. It was heavily inspired by the work that Talent LMS are doing with their training and compliance courses. (They are excellent and well worth checking out).
My top priority was to create a short compliance programme for our staff and students, who could complete it in the space of about 30 minutes, and also have the flexibility to read a handout and/or listen to an audio alternative if the learner so chose to. I wanted the course to flow like a story, have quirky graphics and fun elements.
I wrote all the cheesy scripts and subject content matter and I admit my writing skills need some work. I narrated everything using a Shure MV7 and Adobe Audition. The animated elements were all created using Vyond, which is a decent web application for creating animations. As someone who has worked in 3D graphics and animation and understands the work that’s involved, Vyond is a great, rapid authoring tool!
I chose the theme of staying safe online as computer safety and scam awareness is something I am very passionate about. It’s very easy for cybercriminals to trick experienced users, let alone those who aren’t IT-savvy.
Below is the interactive E-Learning package that I built for my employer, Cenit College (Project displayed here with permission):
